P/T DONATIONS AMBASSADOR
Summer Job Opportunity
The Donations Ambassador position is very important as they accept/receive donations from general public and commercial businesses and process to become the new inventory for the ReStore. Without inventory through donations Habitat Thunder Bay would not be able to sustain the Habitat operation and mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides excellent customer service and positively engages with all customers
- Maintains a neat and organized donation centre area
- Greets all customers and displays warm demeanor
- Informs donors if product is not accepted and suggests alternatives
- Accepts donations and checks to ensure all parts are included
- Cleans/repairs used donations to a “like new” standard
- Barcodes, scans or enters product data into inventory recording system
- Follows the ReStore pricing guide and prices donated products and asks for assistance as required
- Prepare donation receipt paperwork, clearly and legibly
- Answers internal telephone calls from team members
- Answers calls for assistance for customer pick up
- Assists Donation Driver to load/unload products out of cube van/truck
- Ensures all covid-19 pandemic protocols and standards are practiced
MERCHANDISING
- Relocates and moves merchandise on the retail floor as directed to make room for new inventory or newly featured products.
- Completes merchandising tasks as directed and maintains efficient flow of merchandise from donation Centre to sales floor
- Merchandises and maintains designated areas (i.e. facing, signing, labeling, housekeeping etc)
- Advises appropriate person regarding stock outs/shortages
LOSS PREVENTION
- Ensures loss prevention Standards are followed
- Ensures all product is priced pursuant to pricing guide and not sold out of donation centre
- Maintains proper security of inventory in the donation centre tents
- Acknowledges customers coming in to the yard selling area with a greeting to ensure customer knows they have been seen entering the yard.
GENERAL
- Presents proper image to the public in accordance with Uniform Policy and Dress Code Guidelines (i.e. clean appearance, approved uniform, name badge)
- Complies with all health and safety regulations, including Covid-19 protocols
- Complies with all store policies and procedures
- Ensures the standards of housekeeping and image are maintained
- Perform other duties as required
- Completes all training and any new initiatives
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to work flexible shifts which may include weekends
- Works outdoors approximately 50% of the time
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb a ladder

- Ability to function as part of the team in a fast paced environment
- Ability to recondition/do minor repairs to incoming donations
